What to Expect Before Surgery

Dr. Sonntag's team will walk you through your specific pre-operative instructions at your pre-op appointment. The general guidance below applies to most surgical procedures but may be modified based on your individual situation.*

  • Prepare a comfortable recovery area on the main floor if possible
  • Stock medications recommended by your care team
  • Arrange for help at home for the first 24–48 hours
  • Have ice packs or a cold therapy unit ready
  • Fill any prescriptions before the day of surgery
